Community Life

Bidford Baptist Church is a community of believers so “church life” extends beyond our Sunday Services. We aim to be supportive of each other and offer the same support to those we share our daily lives with. Much of our community life goes on in the background, just in the way we are with each other but there are also more organised opportunities to meet together in the week.

Monday Prayer Meeting

From 8.15 pm to 9pm on Monday evenings a group meets at the Church Office to pray. We pray for each other, the life of the church, the needs of the community and anything else that that God puts on out hearts. You would be very welcome to join us.

Small Groups

Throughout the week we run a series of small groups in various homes in the village and the surrounding area. Each group has between 6 and 16 members, or thereabouts. Each group is different, we have a day time group, a group for girls aged 18+ (“Girls Aloud”) and a number of evening groups. What each group shares in common is prayer, Bible study, friendship, but how that happens is not set in stone. Groups are informal and a great place to get to know people. There is definitely a focus on social activity and as friendships form and develop you we find that members of the group will naturally look out for each other. If you would like to join a small group get in touch. There is always a group ready to welcome you.

Church Socials

We have a “dynamic” group who love to organise BBQ’s, Barn dances and quizzes as well as regular fellowship meals after Sunday Morning services. There is always something to look forwards to.

Men’s Breakfasts

The Men meet for breakfast at “The Frog” on the last Saturday of the month. We have to meet early so that we can be home before our families miss us too much but this is a great opportunity for the men of the church to get together informally. There is always room for another man who likes a good breakfast so come and join us.

Ladies Meals

Not to be outdone the ladies like to meet up for the occasional meal at “The Fish” in Wixford, often on a Thursday evening. It has to be said that the ladies are not as organised as the men but judging by the numbers that turn out if your a lady of any age, you’ll soon work out when the next visit to “The Fish” is planned!

Ladies Coffee Mornings

The ladies are far more organised about coffee and meet every other week on a Friday morning at Pam Hudson’s home. Everyone’s welcome so long as your a lady.

Other Community Groups

As well as activities within the community of the church we have members who engage in all sorts of other activities in the community, tennis, football, kayaking, cake decorating etc. It is important that as Christians we live as part of the communities we live and work in.

Putting something into Community Life

We have always tried to be a blessing to our community by getting out there and doing something. We have been into the local school and got our hands dirty, by varnishing picnic tables, laying paths, digging gardens and building pergolas. One of our small groups has been out collecting litter around the village and an active group regularly visit local sheltered housing for the elderly, to help and befriend the residents and best of all organise “Beetle drives”. Jesus called us to be “Salt and Light” and by getting involved in our community we have been richly blessed as God has opened doors for us and established us as part of village life.
